Block early, block often (BEBO) is my social media mantra.
I have been online since 1986-ish – I’m old. See my About. LOL! I was a Sysop on a Compuserve forum for several years… if that means anything to you, dear reader.
Many of the communities we formed back then transitioned to Twitter/TwiX/Bird Site. The place was never perfect (far from it), but it was somewhere many of us felt at home. Until, that is, it was taken over and utterly destroyed by its current owner. All y’all know who I’m talking about, right? I closed my Twix account at the end of last year. I could no long handle the poisonous right-wing fuckwit echo chamber that it was fast becoming. I am now on BluesSky… which has its problems, but is approximately a billion times better than the BirdHellSite.*
Anyway, what was the point of all this rambling?
Several things make me more likely to attract trolls. I mean, I present as an elderly, straight (married to a CIS woman), white, physically disabled dude. That is certainly one of the easiest settings for life… no darker skin/woman/trans etc. Even so, it has been years since I stopped hiding two key things about me that inflame the TrollFuckwits:
1. My sexuality (I’m pansexual AKA Hearts Not Parts)
and
2. My relationship status (my wife and I are polyamorous)
Those of you who are decent human beings might well imagine how the TrollFuckwits start frothing at the mouth.
I don’t care. Also, I do not have to endure their ire, nor will I willingly spread it, however indirectly. So I Block Early and Block Often. This probably makes them even frothier. Good.
